President Donald Trump praised Tim Cook in a Tuesday morning post on Truth Social. Trump had very nice things to say about the Apple CEO, who announced on Monday that he’ll be stepping down from the role, but will stay on in a new position that includes “engaging with policymakers.” But Trump also couldn’t stop himself from talking about how Cook was kissing his ass during his tenure leading the Cupertino giant.
Trump wrote that he’s “always been a big fan of Tim Cook,” just like he was of Steve Jobs. And recounted the first phone call he got from Cook during Trump’s first term. Trump said that Cook has a “fairly large problem” that only the president could fix and that most people would’ve just paid a consultant millions of dollars to address it. Instead, Trump insisted, Cook went to the president.
“When I got the call I said, wow, it’s Tim Apple (Cook!) calling, how big is that? I was very impressed with myself to have the head of Apple calling to ‘kiss my ass,'” Trump wrote Tuesday.
Trump very famously referred to Tim Cook as “Tim Apple” during an early meeting that played out in front of the cameras during his first term.
“Anyway, he explained his problem, a tough one it was, I felt he was right and got it taken care of, quickly and effectively. That was the beginning of a long and very nice relationship,” wrote Trump.
Trump went on to say that Cook would call him “but never too much, and I would help him where I could.” The president said that after “3 or 4 BIG HELPS” for Cook, he would tell everyone what an amazing manager and leader the Apple CEO was.
“He makes these calls to me, I help him out (but not always, because he will, on occasion, be too aggressive in his ask!), and he gets the job done, QUICKLY, without a dime being given to those very expensive (millions of dollars!) consultants around town who sometimes get it done, and sometimes don’t,” wrote Trump.
“Anyway, Tim Cook had an AMAZING career, almost incomparable, and will go on and continue to do great work for Apple, and whatever else he chooses to work on. Quite simply, Tim Cook is an incredible guy!!!”

Cook is stepping aside as CEO to be replaced by senior vice president of hardware engineering John Ternus. But Cook is still going to be working on government relations, something he excelled at by buttering up President Trump with a gold plaque and attending First Lady Melania Trump’s documentary premiere. Apple told 9to5Mac: “As executive chairman, Cook will assist with certain aspects of the company, including engaging with policymakers around the world.”
Cook got heat for cozying up to the fascists, but always insisted he’s not political. He simply helps authoritarians because it aids his business interests. But it seems likely that history will judge Cook’s actions harshly, especially as the president continues to make life worse for the average American. Trump appeared on CNBC Tuesday morning to ramble about how he would’ve won the Vietnam War, how gas prices aren’t actually that high, and compared the duration of his war in Iran to much longer wars.
“I want to make a good deal. I’m not going to be rushed,” said Trump.
Trump: “I would’ve won Vietnam very quickly if I were president. Look at Venezuela. I took it over in 45 minutes.”

Jet fuel prices have skyrocketed, and the current average price for a gallon of gas in the U.S. is $4.02, according to AAA, up from $2.90 before the war started on Feb. 28.
