Most of us would never have the balls or spare chunk change to actually do the act, no matter how morbidly curious we were. That’s where YouTubers like Taras Maksimuk, better known as TechRax, come in. TechRax has climbed his way to the top of the fairly lucrative niche of fucking up expensive technology for clicks. His past exploits include shooting gadgets with tanks, boiling them in Coca-Cola or dropping them in lava lamps. Beyond the pure entertainment, he’s also done a fair number of durability drop tests, which can actually be quite handy if you’re a klutz in the market for a new smartphone.
When TechRax told Gizmodo about his plans to destroy an Apple Watch last month, he hinted that a special form of torture might be in store. It’s one of the biggest YouTube career risks he’s ever taken, but this is a labor of love, and if he breaks even, that’ll be a success.
