Trusco toolboxes have long been an elusive item, something only seen by tasteful travelers who spotted them in Japan. They lusted after them enough to fill a few pages on Instagram. But now Hand-Eye Supply is selling a whole line of these beautiful blue boxes, and they're surprisingly affordable.

To call Trusco toolboxes classic would be an understatement. The dead simple design and sturdy stamped steel construction helps the toolboxes do exactly what they're meant to do—hold tools—without any fuss. Meanwhile, the vibrant, trademark blue enamel finish ensures that the objects themselves stand out. Anyone who enjoys good quality and refreshing simplicity should think about keeping their tools in a Trusco.

The small trunk style toolbox will set you back just $20, but you should just go for the 2-level cantilever toolbox. (It's pictured below.) At $84 it's not going to break the bank, and those gnarly hinges are sure to impress your friends. [Hand-Eye Supply via core77]

I'm sure this will appeal hipster who fancies himself a handyman (aka "maker") for the one time a year he needs a screwdriver to take the battery cover off something old.

I'll admit, look really nice. Unfortunately, they also look like, if put to actual use they'll be bashed to shit in a few months, with the paint all scratched up and rusting.

I prefer my tool boxes in durable plastic.
