In the wake of the Japan earthquake and tsunami, locating missing people in the smaller towns hit hardest has been nightmarish. One girl was already able to locate her family via YouTube. Now the video site is launching a formal service to help others affected by the quake.
The Shousoku portal contains videos of displaced victims looking for loved ones, with videos being produced by TV networks and stations in Japan. There are currently 80 videos, and many more will be added in the coming days. However, the service is almost exclusively aimed at those in Japan, as Shousoku doesn’t support Romaji Characters (aka the Roman Alphabet). [TheNextWeb]
