Animals Like You've Never Seen Them Before, in the British Wildlife Photography Awards

Brits have terrific reputations for wildlife photography, thanks to the likes of David Attenborough snapping where no man snapped before. The BWP Awards are brimming with glorious shots like this frog spawn one, but there can be only one winner...

And that winner is Steve Young from the Isles of Scilly, who won the annual competition with his photo of a herring gull standing his ground amidst the crashing waves.

My favorite, the frog spawn shot from Steward Ellett, won the highly commended prize in the "wildlife in my backyard" category. The full list of winners are over on the British Wildlife Photography Awards website, and should give some serious inspiration for amateur photographers. A zoom lens is a must, as are quick reflexes on the shutter release. [BWPA via British Journal of Photography]
