Hunt for Cylons, jump in a Viper, and get ready to go back to Caprica. The world of Battlestar Galactica is returning to streaming. After disappearing for about a year, all four seasons of the modern remake of the show, as well as most of its spinoffs, will debut on two new streamers, Paramount+ and Pluto TV, starting May 1.
How does that break down? Well, seasons one through four of the show, the miniseries that set the show up, The Plan TV movie, as well as the first season of the prequel series, Caprica, will all be on Paramount+. Pluto TV will have most of that too, with the exception of Caprica, as well as a dedicated Battlestar Galactica channel that’ll just play everything continuously.
Right now, if you want to watch any of this stuff, you can, but you’d have to buy or rent it. It used to live on Peacock but left the service as of July 2023. It then appeared on Prime Video for a while but left in May 2025. So we guess you have maybe a year to get back into it before it gets crushed by the Cylons again.
Created by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, Battlestar Galactica was a remake of a 1978 show of the same name. It followed a civilization decimated by their adversaries, the Cylons. The only survivors remain on a large ship called the Battlestar Galactica, from where the war continues as they search for a new home. Soon, the humans learn Cylons have figured out a way to appear as humans, and so that makes things even harder.
Recently, there had been a lot of talk about a new iteration of the show from Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, but sadly, that got dumped a few years back. And while that’s disappointing, this version is the gold standard and something you must see if you haven’t already. And, even if you have, now is a great time to give it a rewatch
