California Law Passes, Requires Routers to Come with Security Warning

A California bill was passed today requiring all Wi-Fi routers sold in the state of California to come with a prominent warning about Wi-Fi security and the dangers of having an unsecured wireless network. Manufacturers will have the option of including a security warning in the software setup or physically including a warning sticker on the device that must be removed before the router can operate.

The bill just has to be signed by the Govenator before it goes into affect. Hasta la Vista wardrivers—okay, that was cheesy as hell, I know. Good thing I am in 'ole Kansas where the unsecured wireless networks roam free! Hooray free internet!
