As the Field of Dreams saying goes, "If you build it, they will come," and sure enough, the "Big Leagues, Little Bricks" exhibit at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory is attracting Lego enthusiasts and die-hard baseball fans in droves. Over 222,000 Lego bricks went into creating the exhibit that's on display now through Labor Day.
The centerpiece is clearly the Wrigley Field replica (as photographed by Fred T), created by Sean Kenney with 57,960 bricks. The next largest build is the "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" mural, which used 55,269 bricks and took 4 days to complete. The mural depicts a baseball scene with raised bricks that feature the words to "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" across the surface.
There are 15 other Lego creations on display, including more stadiums and "dynamic conceptual sculptures of iconic baseball moments" (like a portrait of Jeter smiling in a suit). And, as if you needed another reason to visit Louisville, the museum is also home to the world's largest baseball bat and it's located along the Bourbon Trail. Cheers! [Flickr]
