NASA says a combo of wind and sand were responsible for forming these V-shaped drifts on Mars. Sure. OR: The crew of the USS Enterprise felt like stamping the Starfleet insignia all over the planet.
The dune field was spotted by the HiRISE camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter in a large crater near Mawrth Vallis. Here’s another pic:
And wow, this just in—they actually managed to nab a shot of Kirk and Sulu surveying their handiwork!
