Widow’s Bay wrapped up its first season this week, but the finale left plenty of room for the show to explore more—which it will, thankfully, in a recently confirmed second season. Creator Katie Dippold can’t reveal too much about the future of our favorite cursed island, but she does have some general hints that still sound very exciting.

Speaking to Collider, Dippold said she has “a good sense of season two, in the sense of how I want it to feel, the kinds of stuff we can do, and more of the lore to show.”

As for main character Mayor Tom Loftis (played by Matthew Rhys), who just learned a rather terrible truth in the season finale, “I’ve always had an idea for how I think Loftis’ story should end,” Dippold revealed. “Whether that’s what we end up doing or not, I’m not sure, but there’s something I’ve always had in mind.”

A highlight of Widow’s Bay season one was the flashback episode, “Our History,” which took viewers back to 1702, a particularly fraught year for the island village. Dippold is definitely keen to do more in that vein.

“I think it’d be fun to do more flashbacks,” she told Collider. And she’s thinking even bigger than just another season of Widow’s Bay in that regard. “What I think could be very fun about this show and that I always had in mind was, if you build this world and people like being in this world, then aside from this story, there could be future miniseries. What happened at the inn over that New Year’s night could be a standalone six-episode season. I think there is all sorts of stuff you can do, as long as this world is established. I think there’s a lot of fun to be had.”

Widow’s Bay season one is now streaming on Apple TV.
