There's no reason you would ever need to rig up an NES to run Netflix. Which is why it's so great that these two delightfully insane Netflix engineers did it for us. Because at long last, we can finally see the House of Cards intro in all the horrific, 8-bit glory absolutely no one ever intended.
The NES hack was done as part of Netflix's Hack Day, where it sends its engineers out to play around with—you guessed it—Netflix. Some of the other ideas seem fun enough, but none even comes close to the incredible superfluity of an NES churning out recommendations.
Now all we need is someone to hook up HBO Go—Game of Thrones would be a disaster. [Netflix via Digg]
