“Before we can know why we’re here. Before we can know why everything is as it is. Before we can know how it all will end, we need to understand how it all began.”
That’s Juliette, Rebecca Ferguson’s character on Silo, speaking not just about events on the show, but the show itself. Apple TV just announced that season three of the show will begin on July 3, and, after the cliffhanger last year, we now know this season will be heavily focused on the “how it all began.” Who built the silos? Why? We’re going to find out, and to do so the show will rewind things back, just like in this excellent teaser.
We love the way that teaser rewinds events from both seasons and then *BAM* hits you with that new footage. A world not destroyed and desolate. A world very much alive and well. A world of silos. And, in that world, we see characters played by Jessica Henwick, Ashley Zukerman, Colin Hanks, and more. The official plot description explains:
“Season three of Silo continues the saga of a dystopian society of 10,000 people living underground under mysterious circumstances, while revealing an origin story set centuries earlier. In the present, Juliette Nichols (Ferguson) survives her forced ‘cleaning’ but returns with memory loss as the silo recovers from rebellion and faces a dangerous new threat. Meanwhile, in the ‘Before Times,’ journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman) uncover a conspiracy that pulls them into a chain of events with catastrophic, irreversible consequences.”
Let’s, freaking, go.
The ten-episode third season of Silo begins July 3, followed by one new episode every Friday through September 4. The show has already been renewed for a fourth, and final, season. And yes, don’t worry, the press release confirms that “Steve Zahn will also return.”
