Air is what kills open wine. Not sure I'd trust a vacuum mechanism here. Either it isn't going to evacuate enough air, or it strikes me as being a little dangerous. B'sides, how does the pump work if the contents are under a vacuum? I think Wine Keeper has a more effective solution—displace the air with argon or nitrogen or something and prevent oxidization. Means a spout also works, 'cos its now lightly pressurized.
