The K800 is a 3.2-megapixel Cybershot phone that has a Best Picture feature which takes 9 pictures in a second—four pictures before you press the button, one main picture, and four pictures after you click. You then pick out the “best” picture in this mess and save that one. Interesting.
This is a Music Stick phone from Samsung. It is half the size shown in the picture and swivels outward to unveil the non-traditional keypad underneath. It comes loaded with 1GB of flash memory and includes other dandies like an FM tuner and external microphone.
The Nokia booth ended up being quite a bust. We did manage to find one gem of a phone that stood out from the rest. This is the Nokia 3250. The base of the phone twists around 180 degrees. One face shows the standard keypad for phone functionality. Twist it around to control the camera…
Finally, a company comes out with a phone, that is just a phone and will openly admit it. The Sony Ericsson J100i is just that. A phone. It makes calls, it receives calls, it keeps grandma happy. It is slated for a Q2 release.
As signaled two weeks ago by TiVo’s CEO Tom Rogers, the company will change its pricing structure so that it gives away its TiVo box but charges users on a monthly or yearly basis with a contract structure similar to cellphone plans. An 80-hour TiVo is bundled with the following payment plans beginning next week:…
Eurocom introduced the M590K Emporor, a laptop that it calls the world’s first SLI (Scan Line Interleave) notebook. Gamers will like the combination of two NVIDIA SLI-certified Geforce Go 7800 GTX 256MB graphics cards strapped together for 2x graphics performance. Those two GPUs are pumping out video to a 19-inch 1680×1050 widescreen display. With its…
We’ve got some video coming up, but here’s our initial impression of the Samsung Q1, the UMPC/Origami/Mini-PC/Mini-Slate that has been keeping us up at night. We’re here to tell you that yes, it’s small and light. Yes, it’ runs Windows XP. And no, it isn’t very impressive. The Q1 is simply a smaller and much…
Travis and I just rolled in last night and immediately hunted down the best and brightest here in Hannover. It’s violently cold here, horrible snow, and the expo center is huge-normous. Thus far we’ve found quite a lot of the same-old-same-old—MP3 players we’ll never see, cameras that kick ass that we’ll never see, and laptops…
The online version of CeBIT’s tradeshow newspaper is already online, revealing a bit more information about Microsoft and Intel’s Origami platform. Obviously this thumb-typing interface is the stand out discovery, but there’s also mention in the copy of plug-in GPS and DMB-TV receivers. Strangely, there’s talk that the Samsung device can rip DVDs to its…
Reader M Milach sends us this image of an Asus Origami device, presumably from the showfloor of CeBIT, since we’re told the image is from this German gaming site. Looks better than most of the prototypes, that’s for sure.
Garmin’s new StreetPIlot c550 adds Bluetooth to the c series, as well as a built-in TMC traffic receiver. (Most other Garmin navigation units require you to purchase the TMC hardware separately [not to mention pay a monthly fee for TMC data].) The StreetPIlot c550 also offers full Europe or United States map coverage, voice notification,…
Garmin is showing off the Garmin Mobile 20 platform, essentially a car mount with built-in GPS receiver that works with software available for most Nokia and Windows Mobile phones, as well as the Treo 650, to turn them into full-blown GPS navigation systems. The Garmin Mobile 20 also has built-in Bluetooth speaker and microphones, which…
Garmin has announced a bushel of new products at this year’s CeBIT, included updates to the nüvi line of “pocket-sized” GPS units. Both the nüvi 360 and the nüvi 310 now have built-in Bluetooth wireless, which allows hands-free mobile calling, among other phone-related tricks. That’s handy if you’re using the nüvi in a car-mount, but…

Joel here. Couple things. First of all, apologies for the poor performance of the site today. We hit little speed bumps all the time, but today’s been a pretty spectacular failure. The good news is that we’re a victim of our own success. We’ll take growing pains over most other problems. We should have everything…
Sony recently launched the SNC-CS50P, an intelligent Internet Protocol (IP) based network camera. This device is the first in a new generation of Sony cameras to do their image processing within the camera itself. The “intelligent” in the description refers to that, as well as its two main features: Intelligent Motion Detection and Intelligent Object…
News.com has these pictures of two interesting laptop/tablet design concepts by Intel, shown at IDF 2006, nestled in one of their photo galleries. They don’t really do anything that the current twist-and-fold screens can’t do, but they’re pretty slick all the same. (Thanks, Todd!) Montevallo 1 Concept [News.com] Montevallo 2 Concept [News.com]
If you like your phones super skinny and encased in metal, Motorola’s RAZR and SLVR have just gotten themselves some serious new competition in the BenQ-Siemens EL71 slider phone, announced today at CeBIT. Brushed aluminum and magnesium! Only 16.mm thick! A keypad that glides out gently! You’d probably be going out on the town more…
From the busy labs of Hammacher comes a wristwatch-looking gadget designed to help inline skaters (rollerbladers, for the cool kids reading) keep track of their travels. The Inline Skate Speedometer wirelessly communicates with a special wheel on the skate, measuring speed and distance traveled. The package comes with an adapter to ensure that the included…
Will keyboard players finally get some love from their bandmates if they can record them in multitrack splendor? Alesis has built a high-end hard disk recorder right into the Alesis Fusion keyboard synth. They’re certainly not the first to do that, but what they’ve done is remove the sticker shock: this instrument was already a…
