The Onion Erects a Non-Satirical Paywall

Fake news don't come cheap; The Onion has begun testing a paywall for its international readers. Under the current system, you get five free articles per month, after which it's $3/month or $30/year for access.

But no worries, skimmers and culture snobs! The A.V. Club and homepage don't count, and the system won't be deployed in places where there are large numbers of US troops. All in all, sounds like a pretty reasonable plan, given that we're talking about the consistently funniest site on the whole wide internet. [Splitsider]

What do you think about the Onion's newly announced paywall for international readers?

Unemployed Internet Blogger

"It's about time foreigners start paying for something I use instead of the other way around."

French Baker

"Outrageous! I love the Onion but will they accept croissants as payment?"

"I guess I'll have to be a little less anti-anti-American now that the Onion will be a little more pro-anti-American."
