Donald Trump hosted a ceremony at the White House on Thursday, dubbed “A New Golden Age Summit,” handing out awards to his most favored tech oligarchs.
It was an embarrassing display, with the 80-year-old president giving out medals to people like Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, and Jensen Huang. You may recall that as recently as last year, Musk was rage-tweeting that Trump was in the Epstein files. And now he’s getting a medal from the guy.
The president also seemed to be frequently slurring his words Thursday and struggled to speak at times, even mispronouncing Huang’s name in a really awkward way.
Trump: “An amazing man — Jensen Twaaaang”

Obviously, Trump has a long history of butchering names. Who can forget when he called Apple’s Tim Cook “Tim Apple” or when he couldn’t pronounce the United States, blurting out United Shtaysh like a drunken sailor?
Trump has also mispronounced Tesla as Tesler, Yosemite National Park as “yo semites,” and acetaminophen in a way that’s difficult to transcribe here. But you can watch it for yourself below.
Lately, during his frequent trips around the country to campaign for Republican candidates who are losing ground ahead of the midterm elections, Trump has been mispronouncing the word vegan as vaygan. But he finally addressed that this week, telling a crowd in Texas that First Lady Melania Trump tried to correct him.
The president kept saying the word incorrectly because he was trying to attack James Talarico, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Texas. Talarico is not a vegan, according to multiple reports. The Democrat is currently polling ahead of Republican nominee Ken Paxton.
It doesn’t get much attention these days, but just about every Trump speech is now filled with bizarre mispronunciations and weird pauses. And when he slurs things, it really makes you wonder what’s going on with his health. As just one example, when Trump struggled to say the word “smoggy” it came out as “smargy” on Thursday.
Jensen Huang better hope that Trump doesn’t decide that the president’s preferred name is easier to say. If he does, the Nvidia CEO may find himself needing to legally change his name to Twaaaahng. It’s not like that would be so ridiculous. Huang has already adopted “super intelligence” over artificial intelligence. They all seem to be bending the knee to keep the money spigot flowing.
Ass-kissing oligarchy, if nothing else, is extremely embarrassing to watch.
