GoDaddy Changes Its Mind on Supporting That Evil SOPA Legislation

Wow, GoDaddy finally does the right thing. After initially defending their stance, they’ve just announced that they’re no longer supporting the awful, anti-internet bill known as SOPA because though ‘fighting’ online piracy is important, GoDaddy feels they “can clearly do better”. Maybe they were scared off by Leave GoDaddy Day?

Warren Adelman, GoDaddy’s CEO, explains the company’s reasoning for ditching SOPA:

“Fighting online piracy is of the utmost importance, which is why Go Daddy has been working to help craft revisions to this legislation—but we can clearly do better. It’s very important that all Internet stakeholders work together on this. Getting it right is worth the wait. Go Daddy will support it when and if the Internet community supports it.”

They probably did it because Ben Huh threatened to pull more than 1000 I Can Haz Cheeseburger domains from the service, but If a sleazeball company like GoDaddy can ditch SOPA because of pressure from the Internet, you bet other companies currently supporting SOPA will cave too. Let yourself be heard and let’s freaking kill this bill.
