FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel said on Wednesday that she wants to slow down the review process for the net neutrality rules due to the public backlash.
“For this reason, I think we should delay our consideration of his rules by a least a month,” she said. “I believe that rushing headlong into a rulemaking next week fails to respect the public response to his proposal.”
Well, that’s a relief. The rules, proposed recently proposed by the FCC chairman and former big telecom lobbyist Tom Wheeler, were widely criticized for allowing internet companies to pay for better treatment from service providers. In effect, the rules would ensure that internet regulation would be the opposite of neutral. It’s unclear if the FCC will listen to Rosenworcel, but at least we know that the commissioners are listening. [@TonyRomm]
