The nominees for the 2023 Golden Globes have been announced, and the Daniels’ multiversal story of love, family, and Michelle Yeoh kicking ass is leading the charge for genre entertainment at the show next year.
In terms of notable genre additions to the list, Everything Everywhere All at Once dominates the proceedings with six nominations, including Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), as well as nods for the Daniels in Directing, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), and Best Supporting Actor/Actress categories, respectively. Avatar: The Way of Water, opening later this week, also picked up a couple of nominations for director James Cameron, in Best Director and Best Motion Picture (Drama).
Meanwhile, on the TV side of things, things are much quieter on the genre front. House of the Dragon scored nominations in the Best TV Drama category and for Emma D’Arcy’s performance as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Best TV Actress (Drama). Andor, off the back of a much stronger showing in the recent Critics Choice Awards, received a single nod for Diego Luna in the Best TV Actor category. Also interestingly absent? Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which failed to get a single nomination for Amazon. Check out the full list of nominees below.
