Earlier this week, PalmSource CEO David Nagel said that Sony Ericsson was talking with them about licensing the Palm operating system for use on its cellphones, which would be huge. Mark Kyrnin of CompReviews.About.com has updated his list of the best desktop PCs for under $500, with Dell’s Dimension 2400 (pictured at right) taking top honors. Supposedly DoCoMo is going to make it possible for customers to create a 3D animated version of themselves which can appear in their place if they aren’t interested in appearing on screen for a video phone chat, instead of the still digital photo which shows up now. Reminds us of this. Read
A couple of new GPS enabled Motorola phones coming from Nextel later this month. The i730, which has a 65,000 color display, while the i205 apparently has so few noteworthy features that on its site Nextel lists the fact that it can be set to “vibrate” as one of its major selling point. Ouch. Read…
The Finnish parliament is thinking about passing a new law which would let parents track their children via their cellphones, without their consent, but only up until age 15. Once they turn 15, kids could be tracked by their parents only if they agree to it. And what self-respecting teenager would agree to that? Read…

Samsung’s i600 Smartphone might be available from Verizon within a month. At least that’s what someone who visited a Verizon store in Wisconsin wrote to Smartphone Thoughts, saying that a rep at the store there let them actually play with a demo unit and indicated that the phone was close to coming out. A 9.1 channel audio/video receiver from Sony that we think just might be about the most number of channels we’ve seen yet in a consumer-grade surround sound system. If you actually have the space for nine speakers plus a subwoofer, there’s a good chance you can afford the huge price tag as well. The TA-DA9000ES…
Is it us, or was this a really slow week for new gadgets? There were a bunch of big launches earlier this month (the Treo 600, those three new Palms, the N-Gage, that Voq Smartphone, etc.), but there’s been virtually nothing major of note this week, except for that new Segway HT.

We’ve been getting a TON of email about the new Treo 600, mainly from readers who have gotten one and can’t believe how good it is. We’re pleased to report that we received one from Sprint to review just yesterday morning and have been having a lot of fun playing with it. The keyboard is…
First review we’ve seen of Samsung’s new YP-910GS 20GB hard drive MP3 player, the one that’s designed to be used with the new Napster 2.0 music download service, though obviously using Napster with it is optional.
