Remember when you saw the epic, awesome trailer for The Creator and thought “Oh, that’s cool, I’d like to see that” but then didn’t? Well, now you can change that because The Creator is finally available at home.

Co-written and directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One), The Creator stars John David Washington as a futuristic soldier in the middle of a global war between humanity and artificial intelligence. The key to the war is a secret weapon developed by the AI, which turns out to be a child, and Washington’s character has to choose what to do with the child that can end the war.

After several months of hype and anticipation over the rare, studio-released, original sci-fi action film, The Creator was released in September and bombed, grossing just over $100 million globally. Yes, globally. However, despite its financial failure, the film has a fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and an even higher audience score. Basically, most people who saw it liked it.

io9 is among those people. We gave the film a positive review calling it “a more than welcome addition to the sci-fi pantheon”—and yet, despite audiences always saying that want more original stories and not as many sequels and franchises, very few people showed up.

And so, again, the time is here to remedy that. The Creator is now available for digital download ahead of its December 12 release on Blu-ray and 4K. If you’re looking for a solid, exciting, emotional sci-fi film to watch this week, The Creator is the answer. Here’s a cool clip from one of the many special features you’ll get on the home release.
