John Goodman joins Skeletons. Steve Guttenberg battles a dybbuk. An undead fisherman brings no less than Michael Bay, Gary Dauberman, Alex Ross Perry, and David Lowery together. The sum of the angles of that rectangle is too monstrous to contemplate! It’s Morning Spoilers!

Io9 2025 Spoiler warningThe Fisherman

THR reports a film adaptation of John Langan’s supernatural horror novel, The Fisherman, is now in development at Focus Features with David Lowery (The Green Knight) attached to write and direct. Co-written for the screen with Alex Ross Perry (Her Smell), the story centers on Abe and Dan, “two widowers who bond together with fishing getaways in upstate New York as way to cope with their grief. One day, however, Dan suggests that pair try a new spot, an isolated and mysterious spot named Dutchman’s Creek, which is whispered to allow a person see their loved ones. Even a spooky tale from a man in a diner detailing the terrible history of the creek can’t stop these two men, who eventually find themselves face to face with Der Fisher, aka The Fisherman. They probably should have just stayed home that weekend.” Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Alex Ginno of Platinum Dunes are producing alongside Gary Dauberman and Mia Maniscalco of Coin Operated.

The Dybbuk

Deadline reports Steve Guttenberg will star alongside Beth Grant (No Country For Old Men) and Craig Bierko (Cinderella Man) in The Dybbuk, a “contemporary adaptation” of the play by S. An-sky from writer-director Lee Amir-Cohen and writer-producer Ashley Bua. The story follows Rabbi Azrael (Guttenberg), “a spiritual leader and mystic forced to perform a dangerous exorcism when the spirit of a dead man possesses a young woman in his congregation. Tony-nominee Bierko plays Sender, the young woman’s father, while Grant plays Frayda, her grandmother.”

Skeletons

Deadline also reports John Goodman has joined the cast Skeletons, JT Mollner’s “creature horror movie told from the perspective of a young boy who slowly begins to discover his beloved parents are hiding a disturbing secret about his mother’s true nature.”

Wildwood

According to a new listing from Regal Cinemas, Laika’s Wildwood has been rated PG-13 and runs an astonishing 139 minutes long—possibly making it the lengthiest stop-motion film ever made.

Evil Dead Burn

In a recent interview with Comic Book, Souheila Yacoub described her character, Alice, as “not very superhero-ish” compared to someone like Ash Williams.

I don’t know much about horror… I’m a little flower. So I remember when Sebastian asked me to be part of the movie, we really wanted to make a very not superhero-ish final girl.

For me, it was very important not to sexualize this woman and to be like one color of emotion. It was very important to me that I make a complex and very human Alice with flaws. I feel like I received some script now where the woman is this or a strong woman or a victim or it’s not. I need complexity. So I worked on that with him.

I think they will get emotional as well. I hope they notice the fact that we try to do like a good movie before a good horror movie.
