Persona 5: The Phantom X is a free-to-play game in the Persona series that adds new characters and storylines to it. You can battle demons, manage your school life, and play this double-world format on mobile devices and PCs.

About Persona5: The Phantom X

Persona 5: The Phantom X is a spin-off of the Persona 5 RPG game that comes as a free-to-play title adjusted to mobile devices and PCs. It keeps the game's visual style and soundtrack while adding a new dimension to the main characters' storylines. The game evolves over time with new content, features, and narratives, so you can keep on playing it without getting bored.

In Persona 5: The Phantom X, you get to play a new hero called Wonder, and you need to navigate and manage two separate timelines. By day, you're a high school student who can work part-time jobs, meet with friends, and build relationships. By night, an alternate world opens up with dungeons filled with Shadows that you need to battle to stop the corruption.

In this spin-off, you still get the famous turn-based combat, social calendar, and deep characters known from the Persona series. What's new in Persona 5: The Phantom X is that it has a gacha system where you can get more playable characters (known as Phantoms) and personas to play with. These are regularly added to the game, which pose new opportunities when building your squad, and you're also able to play across platforms. You can download Persona 5: The Phantom X for free on iOS, Android, and Windows PCs.

Why should I download Persona 5: The Phantom X?

Created by the same team as other Persona games, Persona 5: The Phantom X retains the look and feel of the original series. It features a comic book-style interface and menus, offers dynamic battle animations, and keeps the recognizable soundtrack. You can still explore various districts of Tokyo, manage your calendar to make the most of every day, and visit the alternative universe to engage in battles.

What sets Persona 5: The Phantom X apart is that it brings a new cast of "Phantom Thieves," which is a new narrative layer you can't find in other Persona games. You play as a completely new protagonist called Wonder and get to know their background and motivations. There are also new team members you can meet and recruit, each of whom has a unique personality, set of skills, issues, and Personas. Even though there is a whole new cast of characters, you can also find in this game the ones known from Persona 5, so there's a link to the original game.

When it comes to combat, Persona 5: The Phantom X uses the "one more" turn-based system known from other Persona titles. You get to summon Personas, which are alternative versions of the player's psyche that are used to cast spells, use elemental attacks, and have specific qualities that make them more effective against some types of demons. You also get the "one more" system, where you get extra moves for hitting enemy weaknesses, but the game also lets you merge Personas together to get powerful units, switch them mid-battle, and find the best combos while keeping an eye on your resources.

The gameplay in Persona 5: The Phantom X blends the ordinary life of young students with a fantasy layer. You live a double life that is central to the entire Persona series. During the day, you attend classes in school, you can develop various skills, earn money by doing part-time jobs, or make friendships that will turn out to be strategic and important for your other life. By night, everything you did during the day had an influence on the Palaces, an alternate world where you needed to find and battle demons to keep both of your worlds safe.

In order to acquire new Personas and customize them, Persona 5: The Phantom X uses a gacha system. Apart from the core cast of characters, you can use in-game currency and items to unlock new playable Phantoms and Personas. Make sure to consider their skills, elemental abilities, and possible synergies with your current team, as each of them unlocks new options and can make you more powerful. While you can spend money to unlock them, there are also a lot of free rewards in Persona 5: The Phantom X, so the game doesn't force you to pay to progress or get better.

You can download and play Persona 5: The Phantom X on iOS, Android, and Windows computers for free, but one of the best parts is that the game supports cross-platform play. You can start your mission on a PC and then continue it on your mobile device if you need to leave the house. The game automatically saves to the cloud, so you don't need to worry about losing progress.

Is Persona 5: The Phantom X free?

Yes, Persona 5: The Phantom X is a free-to-play game that also has optional in-game purchases. Whether you get it on a mobile device or a Windows PC, you don't need to pay in order to play and progress.

You can earn a lot of the rewards and premium currency without spending money, but it also remains an option if you don't mind making financial investments in a game.

What operating systems are compatible with Persona 5: The Phantom X?
