Private Internet Access covers every phone, laptop, and TV in a household on one subscription, and on its Algerian server, it unblocked ENTV. What’s Restricted Online in Algeria

Algeria’s internet is mostly open, but the government has blocked content and cut access when it wants to control what spreads online:

• News sites: Press freedom groups, including the Committee to Protect Journalists, have documented blocks on independent outlets such as Radio M and Interlignes.
• Exam weeks: From 2018, the June baccalaureate exams brought nationwide internet cuts or social media blocks every year. In 2025, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok were blocked during exam hours. In June 2026, the authorities limited cuts to exam centers and their surroundings for the first time.
• Platforms: Roblox was blocked in September 2025 over child safety concerns and later returned with chat disabled, and parliament has reviewed a bill to tighten control over TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.

No Algerian law prohibits using a VPN, but content that’s illegal in Algeria stays illegal over one. A VPN can’t help during a full shutdown, since there’s no connection to send traffic through.
