Windscribe is the free VPN we’d pick for streaming from Australia. Its free plan unblocked BBC iPlayer, Channel 4, and Netflix in the US, Canada, and Japan in our tests, and unlike most free plans, it lets every device in the household connect at once.

Its free locations include Hong Kong, the closest free server to Australia we found, which keeps ping lower than a European or US server would. Hide.me pairs an uncapped free plan with something Proton VPN’s free tier lacks: you pick the server. Its free locations are Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, and the US, so you can connect to the country a website expects.

That makes it the free VPN to stay connected all day on public Wi-Fi in Australia, since browsing never counts against an allowance. Its UK free server kept about 80% of our speed, enough for browsing and email.

Is There a Free VPN With Australian Servers?
