Stripchat Age Verification: What the ID Check Collects

Stripchat visitors in more than 25 American states, the UK, France, and a lengthening list of other countries now meet an age check. The check happens at id.stripchat.com, a separate address from the site itself, and it requires a government-issued document, a facial scan, or both. That is a lot of personal data for a website visit. Three questions follow, and all three are fair. Who receives the document, how long do they keep it, and what happens if that company suffers a breach?

Inside the id.stripchat.com Portal

The verification portal has its own address, apart from Stripchat’s main site, which is normal for this kind of check. Adult platforms rarely build verification themselves. They contract a specialist age-assurance company, and the document goes to that company instead of to the platform. Stripchat’s privacy policy calls them “trusted age verification providers” and never names one.

It states that the data goes to the provider, that Stripchat cannot access it, and that the provider’s own privacy policy governs what follows. Your document therefore goes to a company you cannot identify until you open the portal, under terms you cannot read beforehand. The company behind the site is registered in Cyprus, number HE349515, and Cypriot law governs both the terms and any dispute.

Payments go through SegPay and CentroBill. A visitor outside the EU seeking redress over a data problem starts from an unfamiliar jurisdiction.

What the Check Collects

Age assurance companies use three methods, and most platforms offer more than one:

• Document scan. A passport, driver’s license, or national ID card, photographed with your device camera. The provider reads the date of birth and confirms the document is genuine.
• Facial age estimation. A selfie, with software estimating your age from the image alone and no document involved. Providers state they delete the image as soon as the estimate comes back.
• Database or mobile check. Credit reference data confirms your name, address, and date of birth, or a code arrives at a phone number in your name.

Retention decides the privacy question. Leading providers delete images and document data immediately after the check, passing the platform only a yes or no. Those are the companies’ own policy statements, not independently verified facts. Mobile checks in particular can leave a record with the telecoms company for up to two years.

What Stripchat Records Anyway

The verification step is one part of the picture. Stripchat’s terms of service, which every visitor accepts by using the site, set out what happens next. You expressly authorize the platform to monitor, record, and log your activity: chats, streams, messages, and interactions with other users. Marketing emails include open-tracking pixels that record the time you open a message, the device, and your approximate location.

The recommendation system uses your location, your browsing language, and your interaction history to decide what you see. Liability is capped at $100. In a dispute, $100 is the maximum. Three clauses in the privacy policy go further than most visitors would expect.

• It may infer your sexual orientation. The policy states that Stripchat will never ask you to disclose it, and that it may infer the information from how you use the site. GDPR counts that as sensitive data, and the policy treats it accordingly.
• One check can cover several sites. Once you verify, Stripchat shares an age confirmation with affiliated platforms in the same corporate group. Nothing personal moves with it, according to the policy; only the confirmation.
• Tracking extends past the site itself. The policy says cookies and similar technologies may collect information about your activity across third-party websites, not only on Stripchat.

One detail shows the policy has not kept pace. It still relies on the EU-US Privacy Shield as a safeguard for transfers to American providers, an arrangement the European Court of Justice struck down in 2020. The policy shows a July 2025 modification date.

Where Age Verification Applies

American rules operate at state level, so the requirement follows the location the site believes you are in. The Texas legislation and Louisiana’s original law are covered in full on their own pages. Ofcom enforces the British rules, with fines up to £18 million or 10% of global turnover. Most platforms complied.

What a VPN Changes, and What It Doesn’t

A VPN encrypts your traffic and swaps the IP address websites see for one belonging to the VPN server. Two things follow, and both deserve precision.

• What it changes. Your internet provider stops seeing which sites you open, and those sites stop seeing your real address and approximate location. On a shared household connection, that separates a private session from one a router log records.
• What it doesn’t change. A VPN removes no legal requirement, deletes no account you have already verified, and stops no platform from recording what you do once you sign in. Stripchat’s terms also warn, in the platform’s own words, that attempting to circumvent its verification review systems can lead to a permanent block of the account and of site access.

For most people, the practical use is narrower and more useful than the advertising implies: keeping browsing private from an internet provider, a network owner, or other people in the house.

Protecting Your Data Either Way

Whether or not you complete a check, a few habits reduce what is exposed:

• Use a separate email address. An alias keeps adult-site marketing and any future breach notification away from your main inbox.
• Read the portal’s policy before uploading. A provider promising to delete images immediately after the check is making a commitment you can point to later.
• Prefer facial estimation over a document where a platform offers both, since no identity document leaves your device.
• Keep a VPN connected for the browsing itself. That is the part your internet provider would otherwise see.
