Instead, on Chicago servers, NordVPN, Proton VPN, and ExpressVPN unblocked live CBS, ABC, NBC, cable channels, and a regional sports network, and streams were fast and smooth on each. The US server city you pick also decides which local channels you get.
Fubo From Abroad: 2026 Setup
- Subscribe to NordVPN and add it to your laptop or streaming device.
- Connect to the US city closest to your home, since Fubo’s local channels follow the server.
- Sign in at fubo.tv, or sign up for the free trial.
- Start a channel. If one shows a playback error, try a different US city.
Watching Fubo Outside the US
With the VPN set to a US city, open fubo.tv and sign in. Fubo plays channels only for US IP addresses, and it serves only the US and its territories. Its Android app isn’t listed in Google Play outside the US, so on a phone, a US store account or the browser is the way in. New accounts can also be created abroad.
Fubo filled in a New York ZIP code from our VPN server, then required a card and a billing ZIP. It accepted our European card with that ZIP, placed a temporary $1 authorization, and started a five-day free trial. Cash App Pay is the other payment option.
The Server City Sets Your Local Channels
Fubo chooses local stations from your current location, and with a VPN that location is the server. On a New York server, the guide showed CBS New York and ABC 7 New York. After switching to Chicago, it showed CBS Chicago and ABC 7 Chicago, and Marquee Sports Network, the Cubs’ regional channel, played a replay.

- For regional sports: Fubo’s help center says any device used away from home must sign in from the home area at least once every 30 days to keep regional sports networks.

Fubo Plans and Prices
Fubo merged with Hulu + Live TV in October 2025, and after a long dispute, NBC channels are back on it. Current US plans, before taxes:
- Pro: about $89 a month, 237 channels, ESPN Unlimited included.
- Elite: about $99 a month, 302 channels, with 4K.
- Elite with Sports Plus: about $109 a month, 311 channels, including NFL RedZone.
- Latino: about $20 a month, 60 Spanish-language channels, without ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, or ESPN Unlimited.
- Regional sports fee: $3.99 to $16.99 a month on Pro and the Elite plans, depending on the ZIP code. Our New York ZIP code drew the $16.99 fee.
Every plan has a five-day free trial, and the first month is discounted.
Fubo From Mexico
No, Mexico isn’t a Fubo market. Fubo’s US service is limited to US territory, and its other services cover Canada and Spain with different channels. Watching from Mexico requires a US server and a US Fubo account, and our test showed a non-US card can pay for one. The Latino plan covers Spanish-language sports channels such as ESPN Deportes and Fox Deportes.
Fubo Canada Abroad
Fubo Canada is a separate subscription. With our US account on a Canadian server, Fubo said the service wasn’t available in Canada on that subscription. Fubo Canada plays abroad only through a Canadian server, and a US subscription only through a US one.

ExpressVPN lists 63 US locations, the most room for matching a home market, and unblocked every Fubo channel we tried in Chicago. It measured 157.23 Mbps in Chicago (a 17.4% loss), and live streams started as quickly as on the other two. ExpressVPN costs under $3 a month over the 28-month Basic plan, then about $100 a year.
Fixing Fubo Playback Problems
- A playback error on one channel: switch to another US city. Two channels that failed on NordVPN’s New York server played on Chicago.
- A region message: reconnect to a US city in the VPN, delete fubo.tv cookies, and reload.
- A Canada-only message: the US account is on a Canadian server, so switch to a US one.
- Regional sports missing: sign the device in from your home area, which Fubo requires monthly.
Fubo on Free VPNs
