Ukrainian TV Abroad: 2026 Setup

How to Watch Ukrainian TV Outside Ukraine
Connect to a server in Kyiv, then load the channel’s website and press play. From Europe, Suspilne showed a message that the broadcast is available only in Ukraine, and Inter and Teleportal wouldn’t play. A VPN gives the connection an IP address in Ukraine, which removes that block, the same way it helps unblock other websites.
Not every VPN unblocks Suspilne: it gave Proton VPN a region error and left ExpressVPN on an endless loading screen. Megogo and Netflix Ukraine also require a Kyiv server. On a TV, a VPN for smart TVs or the Apple TV app of each VPN below covers the big screen.
Ukrainian Channels That Work Without a VPN
Two sources stream Ukrainian TV abroad at no cost. Two others are tied to the account, so a VPN changes nothing.
- 1+1: its live channel streams on YouTube and played from Europe.
- United News: the joint national news broadcast played from Europe too.
- Sweet.tv: free to sign up, but its catalog follows the country the account was registered in. An account created outside Ukraine kept its local catalog on a Ukrainian IP address.
- Kyivstar TV: sign-up requires a Ukrainian phone number, so a VPN doesn’t help.

Surfshark matched NordVPN on every platform, which we didn’t expect, especially on Suspilne after Proton VPN and ExpressVPN failed it. Its Kyiv server measured 178.24 Mbps and 40 ms on the Automatic protocol setting. One subscription covers unlimited devices, so a household can watch on phones, laptops, and a TV at once.
Surfshark has no Smart DNS, and a few connections took longer than usual to establish. Surfshark’s Starter plan comes to about $67 for 27 months, then renews at around $79 per year.

Private Internet Access unblocked Suspilne, Inter, and Megogo, but Teleportal and Netflix Ukraine blocked it. Its Ukraine server measured 167.15 Mbps with a 90 ms ping, compared to 41 and 40 ms on NordVPN and Surfshark. It still appears in our list of the fastest VPNs, based on other routes.

VPNs That Struggled With Ukrainian TV
- Proton VPN: Suspilne showed a region error, and Netflix Ukraine blocked it. Its Kyiv IP address also looked up as Frankfurt.
- ExpressVPN: Suspilne loaded an endless spinner on a black screen, and Teleportal and Megogo blocked it. Connecting took about 10 seconds.
