Proton VPN’s free tier refuses P2P, and its paid plan does something for torrenting that no free option can. Port forwarding is the feature. It lets other peers open a connection to you instead of leaving your client to start every one, which decides whether a poorly seeded file downloads. Several of the strongest free plans refuse torrenting, and the apps rarely say so before you try. But here’s the concrete list if you’re curious.

• Hola sends traffic through other users instead of servers it owns, which means another user’s activity can leave from your IP address. If that activity is criminal, the trail leads back to you.
