Hotspot Shield belongs to the famous Pango Group, often called simply Pango. NordVPN is a product of Nord Security whose reputation is impressive in the world of cyber security. Let’s discuss their logging practices now because they’re vital to this 2026 comparison.
We’ll begin with Hotspot Shield, which claims to have a no-log policy but in reality, still keeps more than a few logs on its servers. They include:
- Browser types
- Device types
- Operating system
- ISP name and network information
- Connection timestamps
- Referring URLs
- Approximate location based on your IP address, and more.

Both possess impeccable streaming optimization, which isn’t “pronounced” in NordVPN but it is in Hotspot Shield. NordVPN rarely advertises itself as a streaming VPN but there it is with its ability to access dozens of Netflix libraries and all other prominent services.
Hotspot Shield has this streaming mode, which optimizes using a VPN for Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, YouTube, etc. Our tests have shown impressive performance on its side, as Hotspot Shield managed to access all prevalent Netflix libraries from the USA, Japan, Canada, UK, etc.
The same goes for other services. For instance, you can watch Pluto TV abroad with both and access Sky Sports anywhere. BBC iPlayer and Max will also work flawlessly in both cases, which levels the playing field and makes Hotspot Shield on par with NordVPN.
Torrenting Performance

NordVPN has P2P-ready servers but so does Hotspot Shield. After testing them, we found that they perform very closely speed-wise but we’re afraid the “background” isn’t the same.
