Roku Not Working With a VPN? 5 Fixes

• A missing channel and a blocked one differ. An app that won’t install is a Channel Store problem, and no VPN setting changes it
• Restart the Roku after connecting. It caches the network state at boot, so a VPN switched on afterwards often requires a restart before apps notice
• Check the router is actually routing. Load an IP checker on a phone joined to the same network. If it shows your own country, the router isn’t passing traffic through the tunnel
• Switch server city. Streaming platforms blocklist individual addresses, so a second city in the same country usually works
• Try Smart DNS instead. Where a VPN connection keeps dropping on an older router, Smart DNS puts far less load on the hardware

Can a Free VPN Work on Roku?
