Best VPN for Pornhub in 2026: Fast, Private, and Tested

Disclaimer: This page is written for adults. Gizmodo supports efforts to keep explicit material away from minors. Rules differ by country and state, and in some countries pornography is illegal at any age; a VPN doesn’t change local law. Our interest is the privacy of legal adults, whose identity documents now pass through third-party companies with their own breach history.

Pornhub is one of the most visited sites in the world, and one of the most restricted. For example, Aylo, its owner, has pulled it from 25 US states and limited it in the UK, France, and Australia. Where it does work, a visit is less private than many people think. Incognito mode clears your history, but your internet provider can still see that you connected to Pornhub.

A VPN addresses the two problems, as long as it’s fast enough for video, keeps no logs, and has servers in places where Pornhub operates normally. So far, five of the 40+ VPNs we’ve tested stood out for Pornhub. Here’s the shortlist first.

Pornhub VPNs Compared

How the Five VPNs Performed on Pornhub

We connected the five paid VPNs to New York servers, where Pornhub serves its standard site, and Pornhub worked with every VPN on the list. The VPNs still differ in speed, in how much they block on adult sites, and in price.

1. NordVPN: Best for Speed and Privacy Together

NordVPN was the fastest VPN we tested on US servers, and as a result, Pornhub loaded quickly on its New York server. Its servers also keep data in RAM only, and Deloitte has audited its no-logs policy. On top of that, Double VPN sends traffic through two servers for extra privacy.

The renewal price is noticeably higher than the first-term price, and the 27-month plan keeps the lower rate longest. The Basic plan is NordVPN’s lowest-priced plan at $3.49 a month for 27 months, and then it renews at $139.08 a year.

2. Proton VPN: Best for Choosing a US State

Unlike many VPNs, Proton VPN lists its US servers by state. That helps US users connect to a state where Pornhub works normally, such as New York, where the full site worked at fast speeds. NetShield was one of the strongest blockers in our ad-blocking test, and it comes with every paid plan. NetShield also has an adult-content filter on Windows.

Keep that filter disabled, because otherwise it blocks Pornhub as well. Besides, the company is based in Switzerland, publishes its app code, and has had its no-logs policy audited. The price increases after two years, though Proton VPN’s renewal stays lower than NordVPN’s.

Proton VPN Plus is $2.99 a month on a two-year subscription, which comes to $71.76 at checkout.

3. ExpressVPN: Best for Simple Apps

ExpressVPN is especially easy to set up, with the same clean apps on phones, computers, and TVs. It unblocked Pornhub on its New York server, and the Lightway protocol reconnects fast when a phone changes networks. KPMG has also audited its TrustedServer setup, which wipes servers on every reboot.

The Basic plan blocks ads at the DNS level, while tracker blocking requires the Advanced plan. Its Advanced and Pro plans also include an adult-site filter, which must stay off for Pornhub. ExpressVPN is also pricier at renewal, and the 28-month plan postpones that longest.

ExpressVPN’s Basic plan is $2.99 a month on the 28-month term, while the Advanced plan costs $4.49 a month on the same term.

4. Surfshark: Best Value With an Ad Blocker

Surfshark includes its CleanWeb blocker on the Starter plan, which removes ads, cookie pop-ups, and malicious sites. Pornhub was fully available on its New York server at fast speeds, and Surfshark is also one of the best VPNs we’ve tested for streaming services. It allows unlimited devices on one subscription, too.

Our Surfshark vs NordVPN comparison goes deeper into the two. Connecting sometimes took longer than usual. When a connection hangs, cancel it and try a nearby city. Finally, its renewal price increases after the first 27 months. At $2.49 a month for 27 months, Surfshark’s Starter plan covers every device in your home, too.

5. Private Internet Access: Best for Ad and Tracker Blocking

Private Internet Access had the strongest ad and tracker blocker we tested. In fact, MACE removed nearly all the ads and trackers in our test, and it’s included on every plan. The full site was available on its New York server, while PIA covers 104 countries, with servers in all 50 US states. When US courts requested user data, PIA had no logs to hand over.

Our list of cheap VPNs covers other low-cost VPNs. Its desktop app, though, looks dated and cluttered, and it was the one we liked least. The default settings work for Pornhub, though, and there’s little to adjust. Speeds were slower than expected, especially on distant servers.

So connect to a nearby server where Pornhub operates normally. Private Internet Access costs around $2 a month on its long-term plan.

Free VPNs for Pornhub

Free VPNs come with limits on speed, servers, or devices. Even so, two of them worked with Pornhub on Dutch servers in our tests. Our free vs paid VPN comparison covers the trade-offs in detail.

Proton VPN Free: No Data Cap, Random Servers

Unlike most free VPNs, Proton VPN’s free plan has no data cap. It assigns servers at random from ten countries, though. You can switch, but the new server is random too, and after a few quick switches the app makes you wait.

When we connected, we were assigned a Dutch server, and the full Pornhub site appeared. On the other hand, a user in the US may be assigned a US server in a state where Pornhub is blocked. NetShield isn’t part of the free plan.

Hide.me Free: Seven Countries to Choose From

Hide.me’s free plan lets you choose from seven countries, and it unblocked Pornhub on a Netherlands server when we tested it. Still, avoid its UK and French servers, where Pornhub is restricted. The free plan covers one device, and its speeds were slower than those of the paid VPNs. Our list of the best free VPNs covers other free VPNs.

What Your Internet Provider Sees on Pornhub

Without a VPN, your internet provider can see that you visited Pornhub, even in private browsing. HTTPS encrypts the pages you view, but the site’s name is sent in plain view when the connection starts. A newer browser feature, Encrypted Client Hello, hides that name, but Pornhub doesn’t support it. Similarly, encrypted DNS in Firefox or Chrome doesn’t hide it.

When a VPN is connected, your internet provider sees only an encrypted connection to a VPN server. The VPN company can see your traffic instead, and an audited no-logs policy confirms it doesn’t keep records. However, a VPN doesn’t protect data Pornhub already stores.

In December 2025, hackers tried to extort Pornhub over Premium members’ activity data from Mixpanel, an analytics company Pornhub says it hasn’t used since 2021. Pornhub says, however, that passwords and payment data weren’t exposed.

Which NordVPN Plan to Choose for Pornhub

The Basic plan is enough to access Pornhub and keep the visit private. Its built-in protection filters ads and malicious domains at the DNS level, when your device looks up a site’s address. As a result, it blocks fewer ads than the Complete plan’s full blocker.

By comparison, the Complete plan adds NordVPN’s full ad and tracker blocker, plus Next-Gen Antivirus on Windows and macOS. NordVPN’s Complete plan costs $4.49 a month on a 27-month subscription ($121.23), compared to $3.49 for the Basic plan. Our NordVPN review compares every plan.

What Happened to VPNhub?

VPNhub was Pornhub’s own VPN, launched in 2018 with a free tier and developed with a partner company, AppAtomic. Today, though, it’s no longer available. In fact, the VPNhub website now says the site is no longer in service and billing has stopped.

Former subscribers are told to contact support for a refund. Instead, any VPN with independently audited privacy practices and servers in places where Pornhub operates normally does the same job.

How to Set Up a VPN for Pornhub

1. Subscribe to NordVPN, then download the app for your phone or computer.
2. Activate the kill switch so a dropped VPN connection doesn’t expose your IP address.
3. Then connect to a New York, Canadian, or Dutch server, where Pornhub operates normally.
4. Visit Pornhub after the connection is active.

The VPN replaces your IP address with the server’s, and Pornhub then shows the version it offers in that location. Our guide on how your IP address changes explains the process. When you watch on a TV, install the VPN on your router or use its TV app. Our smart TV VPN guide explains the two setups.

Our Pornhub unblocked guide also explains Pornhub’s error messages and what visitors in restricted countries see.

Pornhub Guides by Location

Separate guides cover the places where Aylo has restricted Pornhub:

• Texas, where Aylo’s sites have been unavailable since March 2024
• Florida, one of the states Aylo left over its age-verification law
• Nebraska, another state Pornhub withdrew from
• North Carolina, also withdrawn over age checks
• The UK, restricted since February 2026
• France, where the site shows only safe-for-work videos
• Australia, restricted since March 2026

How to Pay for a VPN Privately

Because card and PayPal statements list the VPN company’s name, some adults prefer to pay another way. These VPNs accept payment methods that aren’t tied to a bank account:

• NordVPN: cryptocurrency, prepaid cards, and purchases in retail stores.
• Proton VPN: Bitcoin, or cash sent by mail to its Swiss office. Unlike card payments, cash payments aren’t refundable.
• ExpressVPN: Bitcoin, with only an email address required at sign-up.
• Surfshark: several cryptocurrencies through CoinGate.
• Private Internet Access: gift cards and prepaid cards.

VPN Laws and Pornhub

Yes, for adults in most countries. VPNs are legal in the US, the UK, Canada, and the EU, while US age-verification laws apply to websites. Utah went further in 2026 by treating VPN users physically in Utah as Utah users. However, a federal judge blocked that provision on September 24, 2026.

Porn is illegal at any age in some countries, such as China and the UAE, and a VPN doesn’t change local law. In restricted places, adults can also use the age check local rules allow, such as Apple’s age confirmation on iPhones and iPads in the UK.

Verdict

A VPN for Pornhub does two jobs: it connects you to a server where the site works normally, and it hides the visit from your internet provider. Before ranking them, we tested five paid VPNs on New York servers and compared speed, ad blocking, and privacy.

NordVPN is our recommendation because of the fastest US servers we tested and a no-logs policy verified by Deloitte. Proton VPN lets you connect to a specific US state, while Surfshark and PIA cost less. For other adult sites, such as cam and tube sites, see our best VPNs for porn guide.
