Tubi is one of the easiest streaming services to start in the US. There’s no subscription and no credit card, just films, full TV seasons, and live channels paid for by ads. Try the same website from Manila, Lagos, or Berlin, however, and the player never appears.

A short note says Tubi “is the largest free movie and TV streaming service in the US” but is “not currently available in your area.”

Even in supported countries, the catalog differs. The US version is the largest by a wide margin, and live events such as Fox’s Thanksgiving NFL game stream only in the US. Viewers in Canada or the UK therefore see fewer titles and no American sports, and Tubi’s 2025 Super Bowl live stream was limited to US viewers as well.

Europe is a special case. Tubi withdrew from the EU when the GDPR privacy rules took effect in May 2018. Visitors from EU countries still see a page saying it isn’t available “due to changes in EU laws.” The UK, outside the EU, has had its own Tubi service since 2024.

Why Tubi Says It’s Not Available in Your Area

Tubi licenses most of its films and shows country by country, so it checks where each visitor connects from before the player starts. That check reads your IP address, the number that identifies your connection and its rough location. An IP address outside Tubi’s markets brings up the same message on the website, in the phone apps, and on TVs:

This kind of geo-blocking doesn’t look at your account, your device, or its language settings. Roku players show error RO-2-100-451 instead, which Tubi’s help center describes as a licensing restriction.

How to Watch Tubi Abroad With a VPN

A VPN sends your connection through a server in another country, and Tubi sees that server’s IP address in place of yours.

Choosing a US server is the simplest way to change your IP address for Tubi. The service then treats you as a viewer in the US. Any US city works, and New York is a sensible default from Europe, as the closest major US city. Tubi on Phones and TVs Outside the US

The website is the easiest option abroad, while phones and TVs add one more step. The Tubi app is missing from the App Store and Google Play in unsupported countries, and a VPN doesn’t change that. App stores follow the country of your Apple or Google account.

• Phones and tablets: open tubitv.com in the browser with the VPN connected. With a US Apple or Google account already set up, download the app as usual. Moving an existing Apple Account to the US is possible, but Apple first makes you use up its store credit and end paid subscriptions.
• Fire TV, Android TV, and Apple TV: these support VPN apps, so connect to the US on the device itself. On an Apple TV with a VPN, the Tubi app requires signing in to a Tubi account.
• Samsung and LG TVs: neither brand offers VPN apps on its smart TVs. Set the VPN up on your router, or use Smart DNS, which changes your streaming location without encrypting the connection.

If Tubi still shows the region message or a blank screen after you connect, one of these usually solves it:

A blocked Tubi isn’t always about the country. Schools and offices often filter streaming sites, and a school Chromebook can block Tubi even in the US. A VPN encrypts traffic, so the filter can’t see which site you visit.
